My professional life has been a journey of two distinct, yet interconnected, paths. The first was a 15-year deep dive into the engine room of business—learning how companies run, how supply chains move, and how strategy translates into tangible results. The second is the path I walk today: applying every lesson from that journey to one of the most critical challenges of our time: climate change.
This is the story of how a foundation in operational excellence became the launchpad for a career driven by purpose. It is a story that spans 19 years, starting on the front lines and leading to the forefront of climate strategy.
Building the Foundation (2006-2012)
My story in the professional world began early. At the age of 16, I started my first job as a Waitress at The Nectarine in Hopetown. That three-year experience taught me more about people, pressure, and service than any textbook ever could. It’s where I learned to manage multiple priorities and connect with clients.
I took those skills into a more formal business environment as an Administration Clerk at FLOTANK, where I handled the nuts and bolts of finance as a debtors clerk and was the first point of contact as the receptionist. It's also where i learnt logistics is the heartbeat of industry. My next step, as a buying and administrative assistant with Stamford Sales in Bloemfontein, was my entry into the world of B2B commerce. For two years, I was working in the warehouse, setting up health and safety and helping manage the supply of ambient goods to large-scale clients like mines and catering businesses, which gave me my first real taste of stock control and the rhythm of a supply chain.
Understanding Commerce (2012-2019)
With a solid grasp of the basics, I moved purposefully into the heart of logistics and procurement at Bidfood South Africa. This was a formative period. I started as a Buying Assistant, learning the trade from the ground up and supporting the buyers through the complexities of a company merger with A&S Food service. This experience was invaluable, teaching me resilience and adaptability. I progressed quickly through roles as a Creditors Clerk, Warehouse Export and Intercompany Coordinator, and finally, a Buyer, where I was entrusted with managing the a 10 000 line-item FMCG portfolio for Gauteng.
My journey then took a turn into the fast-paced world of technology, first at Simply Cellular and then at ADAPT Global Limited. There, over nearly three years, my career accelerated. I started as the Logistics & Administration Manager and was soon promoted to Operations Manager. In that role, I was responsible for a few things: designing and implementing business strategies, planning resources, and managing team performance. This work had profound meaning for me, as I was part of a team helping to connect Africa to the world by making low-cost mobile devices accessible. It was here that I developed complex supply chain and reverse-logistics strategies with major retailers, and I began providing consulting services to external clients on operational leadership and business growth.
A Career Driven by Purpose (2019 - Present)
After leaning about commerce and technology, the next natural step was to direct my knowledge toward a larger, national purpose. When I founded Jenweedie in 2019, my intent was specific: to create a new category of exportable products for South Africa—carbon credits—that could enable Foreign Direct Investment, help grow our country's economy, and begin to reduce the deep inequality gap. Climate action, for me, is not just an environmental issue; it is a powerful tool for economic development and social justice.
This new mission led me to take on the role of Country Manager for a carbon project developer, with the goal of actively investing in emission reduction projects and trading carbon credits. I supported the development of the South African strategy, ensuring our work complied with UNFCCC guidelines and aligned with our national development goals.
The results of this new focus have been profoundly insightful. My work in client engagement and trading has contributed to moving 10% of the total South African carbon offset market. I am proud to support carbon projects through their entire lifecycle, from the spark of an idea to the final issuance of credits.
To help shape the industry itself, I serve as a freelance board member for the Southern Africa Carbon Market Association. This role allows me to engage directly with government departments like National Treasury and the Department of Energy, Forestry and Fisheries, contributing to policy submissions and helping to build a robust, effective carbon market for our region.
My entire career has been a story of building expertise, layer by layer. From front-line service to the complexities of global logistics and corporate strategy, every step was essential preparation for the work I do today—work that I believe is not just a job, but a vital contribution to a sustainable future.
